Registration FAQ

What happens after I have submitted my registration?

  1. Once you have submitted your registration form, your name will be added to the members list and shown as pending payment. If you have opted to receive updates via email, you will receive an email notification regarding your registration.
  2. You can opt to pay via Google Checkout upon registration. Alternatively, you have 14 days to get your payment (along with your reference number) to us. If you think you are going to be late in getting payment to us, then e-mail us and we'll extend your deadline by a few days. If your payment is not received within 14 days then your registration will be cancelled but you may register again.
  3. Once we have received your payment we will send you a confirmation e-mail, together with a PDF of the hotel booking form. If you need or prefer a paper copy hotel form, please e-mail us back and we'll post you one.
  4. When your payment has cleared, we will update your payment status accordingly. You can confirm this on the member list. This could take 2-3 weeks, worst case, so don't be alarmed if nothing seems to be happening for a while. If you payment doesn't clear, rest assured you'll be hearing from us PDQ (and your bank, too). We are not proposing to send out paper receipts. Your confirmation email and notification from your bank that your cheque has been cashed (via your statement) serve as receipt. Accordingly, you would be wise to keep a copy of both. Note: Please remember that this entire process is a manual one and the committee all have day jobs. We will try and get the job done as fast as we can but we are only human and delays can & will happen

What is the Membership Rate?

The price is £49 per person for the full weekend.

Do I have to buy a Minami Con T-shirt? How much do they cost?

T-shirts are optional. They cost £10 each.

Can you register at the door?

No, we do not take door registrations anymore.

Can I register for just one of the days of the con?

Our con membership is for all 3 days. We do not do day memberships. However it is up to you on whether you want to come for 1 or 2 days of the con instead of all 3 days. I wouldn't encourage it as you would miss out on the full experience of the convention.

Can under 16 year olds attend?

Yes, but they have to be accompanied by a responsible adult (Aged 18+) who is attending the con. And they will also need written permission from their parent/guardian to attend.

I am a student of antropology/media/journalism etc. Would I be able to come to Minami Con and conduct interviews/research/field work?

You will have to be a paid member to be able to come to Minami Con. As for interviews/research/field work, you will need to obtain permission from the organising committee beforehand.

What are the limitations of an underage con-goer?

Certain late night video programs will be off limits due to the more adult nature of their content.

If I cancel my membership, can I get a refund of my registration fee?

Yes, if you cancel at least 8 weeks before the Con you will get a full refund less a £5 handling fee. If you cancel between 4 to 8 weeks before the Con then there is a £15 fee. No refund will be given within 4 weeks of the Con.

Can I transfer my registration to another?

Yes, this can be done at anytime up until 1 week before the con for a set fee of £5 payable by the new attendee. Also a letter is required from the original registrant confirming that they wish to transfer the membership. All membership transfers are subject to the approval of the Registrations Officer, and must be requested in advance.

I made a mistake while filling in my registration form and need to change my registration details (i.e. badge name, address, email address etc) . What do I do?

E-mail us at about your detail changes and we will make the amendments at our end. Do not re-register again as you will be taking up two places for no reason and we may not take this lightly at all. For badge name changes, you have ideally at least 6 weeks before the con to change it. Your request may not be entertained if it is anything less than 6 weeks.

I have lost the address I'm meant to send my payment to! What do I do?

Don't panic. E-mail us at to request for the address and our friendly Registration Officer will respond with the address. Please cite your registration sequence number as well if possible.

I have lost my registration sequence number(s)! What do I do?

Again, e-mail us at to request for your registration sequence numbers, citing your full name in the process.

I have already sent my payment but I do not see my name being updated on the members list. Did you receive my payment at all?

We intend to do payment updates on a weekly basis (every end of the week) as this is a manual exercise for us. However, if you're concerned about your payment, you may e-mail us at citing your registration sequence number if possible, to find out if we have received your payment.

Not reporting a weapon or ignoring the Con staff’s decision will cause the weapon to be confiscated or even your expulsion from the con. Some guideline examples…

Deedlit arrives with a foam sword, which is secured in its scabbard by cable ties and can’t be drawn. APPROVED.

Galaxy Police heroine arrives with plastic pistol in holster. APPROVED but pistol can not be waved around or pointed at people. Though can be used if posing for picture.

Skuld arrives with 6ft padded Polo stick. BANNED except for use in masquerade, as this is too unwieldy in the Con corridors.

Basically, any pole arm of any type is banned outside of use in the masquerade. Any maces, clubs, whips, etc. are also banned unless can be secured to your costume.

I've sent an email to you guys ages ago but why haven't I received a response yet?

Did you put Minami Con in the Subject line of your email? We do have a spam filter installed so it may have been filtered out if you did not include a valid subject line. Also, the con staff do try to find time to respond but occassionally due to other commitments in life, we do tend to slip a bit when it comes to responding to emails. Please bear with us and if you don't receive a reply within reasonable time (1-2 weeks depending on urgency), do resend your email again.

Why aren't the con staff more professional in handling matters?

Minami Con is a con run by fans for fans. We are not a commerical entity but we do apologise if we appear lacking in professionalism sometimes. Please remember that we also have other life commitments and running Minami Con is not a full-time job for us. We do try our best to ensure that the fans enjoy themselves at the con.
