COVID-19 update: We’re postponing MinamiCon 27

Greetings from the MinamiCon Committee!

We're sorry to announce that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we've been forced to take the decision to postpone next year's MinamiCon until March 2022.

We had very much hoped that the situation in the UK would have improved enough by this stage that we could have confidence in being able to run in 2021, but with the volatility of the situation and lack of clarity on when mass gatherings will be allowed again, we have decided that it wouldn't be responsible for us to attempt to go ahead with the event.

This is a very disappointing outcome for us, and we're very sorry to everyone that had been looking forward to attending. We did consider delaying this decision to see if circumstances suddenly improved, but ultimately we felt that it would be better to make the call whilst there was still ample time for everyone to be able to adjust their holiday and travel plans as necessary.

The good news though, is that we are now aiming to run from 11th-13th March 2022 - we hope you will be able to join us then! If you have already registered for the next Minami, then by default your registration will be carried over to the new dates. If you would instead like to cancel your registration, then please get in touch via and we will be happy to provide a full refund.

We'll keep you posted if anything changes, and please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns (we've also included a few FAQs below).

For 2021, we are also exploring the idea of running a virtual event - if you have ideas or think you may be able to help then please get in touch at and let us know!

FAQ

Can I cancel my registration?

Yes - we will be waiving the cancellation fee and providing full refunds to anyone who requests one. Please contact our Registration Officer at

I've pre-registered but haven't paid yet - what happens to my registration?

The payment deadline has been extended accordingly to mid-2021 - we will be contacting everyone who has yet to pay closer to that time to remind them and provide an exact date.

I would like to come to the re-scheduled 2022 event, do I need to do anything?

No, if you have not gotten in touch to request a refund or similar then we will assume that you would like your membership rolled over to 2022.

When will you open new registrations for 2022?

This will depend somewhat on how the situation develops, but at present we are aiming at June 2021 to open up registration again for 2022.

I've got a hotel booking for the 2021 dates with the Novotel Hotel. What can I do?

If you have booked directly with the Novotel Hotel, you can get in touch with the reservation team in Southampton by emailing them at and they should be assist with sorting out your booking. Any bookings made through third party platforms (e.g. Expedia, booking.com) should be dealt with where the booking was made instead.
